Instructions:

Bag Base:

1. Ch 40.
2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. (38 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn. Dc in each dc across. (38 dc)
4. Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 12 inches in length (or desired size).

Openwork Stitch Pattern:

1. Row 1: Ch 3, *sk 1 st, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st; repeat from * across. End with sk 1 st, dc in last st. Turn.
2. Row 2: Ch 3, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in ch-1 sp; repeat from * across. End with dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
3. Repeat Rows 1-2 until the bag measures 12 inches high or desired measurement.

Finishing the Tote:

1. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
