Crochet Spooky Pumpkin Lantern Cozy
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight orange yarn
- Worsted weight green yarn
- Black yarn for eyes and mouth
- Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- Stuffing (optional for a more 3D look)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but aim for a nice, snug fit around your flashlight.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st(s) - stitch(es)
Instructions:
Base of the Cozy:
- Start with the orange yarn. Chain 30.
- Row 1: In the 2nd chain from the hook, sc across (total 29 sc). Turn.
- Row 2-10: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (Repeat until you reach 10 rows)
- Align the short edges and slip stitch them together to form a tube.
Top Rim:
- Switch to green yarn. Attach it to the top edge of the cozy with a sl st.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc around (make sure to place 2 sc in each corner). Join with sl st.
- Round 2: Ch 1, *sc in next 3, 2 sc in next* around (repeat from * to *). Join with sl st.
Face Details:
- Using the black yarn, create small eyes and a jagged mouth by making surface slip stitches where desired.
- For the stem, chain 10 with the green yarn, sc back along the chain, and attach it to the top of the cozy.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends and ensure everything is securely attached. Optional: Add stuffing at the top for added dimension.
