Crochet Sparkling Snowflake Motif Ornament Free Pattern
Materials Needed
- Sport weight yarn in white and a contrasting color (gold, silver, or blue)
- 1.75 mm crochet hook
- Embroidery floss for embellishments
- Small beads or sequins (optional)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sp = space
- tr = treble crochet
- st = stitch
Pattern Instructions
Center of the Snowflake
- With the white yarn, create a magic circle.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the magic circle. Pull tightly to close the circle. Sl st to the top of the ch 3 to join. (12 dc)
First Layer
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, *ch 2, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3 to join. (12 dc + 6 ch-2 spaces)
Second Layer
- Round 3: In each ch-2 sp, work: (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) for a total of 6 petals. Sl st to the top of the first ch 3 to join.
Finishing Touches
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
- For extra sparkle, thread beads or sequins onto a piece of embroidery floss and sew them onto each petal tip.
- To hang, create a small loop with a piece of the contrasting yarn and attach to the top center of the snowflake.
