Crochet Soft Textured Baby Wrap Sweater Pattern
Materials Needed
- Light worsted yarn (#3) - approximately 200 yards
- 4.5 mm (G) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Two small buttons (optional)
Stitches Used
- Chain (ch)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Size
Fits baby 3-6 months
Pattern Instructions
Body
- Ch 60.
- Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in the same stitch, *hdc in next, sc in next; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3-20: Repeat Row 2 until you reach the desired length for the body, approximately 10 inches from the starting chain.
Front Panels
- Split the work for front panels:
- Row 21: With right side facing, ch 1, sc in first 30 stitches for the left panel. Turn.
- Row 22: Ch 1, sc in the first 30 stitches for the left panel. Turn.
- Repeat Row 22 until the left front panel measures 7 inches. Do not finish off.
- For the right panel, attach yarn to the next stitch and repeat the same as the left panel.
Joining
- Once both front panels are complete, join them by aligning edges and sc through both sides for 5 stitches. This creates the wrap effect.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Finishing Touches
- With right sides together, fold the sleeves, and slip stitch or sc to close.
- For optional buttons, attach two small buttons on the left front panel at the neckline.
Care Instructions
Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry.
