Crochet Soft Textured Baby Doll Vest and Cap Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- DK (weight 3) yarn
- Crochet hook 4mm (G-6)
- Tapestry needle
- 3 buttons (12mm)
- Scissors
- 14" baby doll
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
pop - popcorn stitch
Vest Pattern:
Body
- Ch 39 (adjust for desired width).
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. (36 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), turn. Dc in next 35 dc.
- Row 3: Ch 2, turn. Pop in the first dc, *sc in next dc, pop in next dc; repeat from * across (ending with sc in last dc). Fasten off.
- Rows 4-10: Repeat rows 2-3 for pattern. (Adjust length here for desired length of vest)
Armholes
- Ch 12, join with sl st to first sc (this forms the armhole).
- Continue working in rows until the armhole is wide enough to fit around the doll's arms, typically about 12 rows.
Finishing
- Weave in ends.
- Attach buttons at the front for closure.
Cap Pattern:
- Ch 34 (for the base, adjust for size).
- Row 1: Join and sc in each ch around. Join with sl st.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join with sl st.
- Row 3: Ch 1, [sc, 2 dc, pop] in same st, *skip next st, [sc, 2 dc, pop] in next st; repeat from * around. Join.
- Continue working in rounds until cap reaches desired height.
- Finish with a round of sc to create a clean edge.
- Make a pom-pom and attach to the top of the cap.
