Snuggly Textured Toddler Booties
Use this pattern to create a pair of cute and comfy booties for toddlers. The combination of stitches gives them a delightful texture, and the easy construction makes them perfect for beginners.
Materials Needed:
- Bulky weight yarn (approx. 150 grams)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch marker
Sizes:
This pattern is designed for toddler sizes 2-4 years, but it can be easily adjusted by changing the starting chain.
Stitches Used (US Terms):
- Chain (ch)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Instructions:
Right Bootie:
- Ch 12.
- Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across (10 hdc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in the same stitch, hdc in next 8 stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch (12 hdc). Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch, hdc in next 10 stitches, 2 hdc in last stitch (14 hdc). Turn.
- Rows 4-10: Repeat Row 3 for a total of 7 rows.
- Row 11: Ch 1, sc in each stitch across (14 sc). Turn.
- Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 4 stitches, ch 5 (this forms the height of the bootie), sc in each of the last 9 (14 sc). Turn.
- Rows 13-15: Repeat Row 11.
- Row 16: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 7 stitches, sl st in the next 4 stitches, sc in each of the last 3 stitches (14 sc). Fasten off.
Left Bootie:
- Follow the same instructions as for the Right Bootie, but reverse the slip stitches in Row 16.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends and adjust the booties to shape as necessary. You may add decorative yarn pom-poms or buttons for extra flair!
Note:
To make these booties larger or smaller, modify the starting chain length accordingly and adjust the rows to maintain the texture pattern.
