Crochet Lightweight Layered Lace Shrug Free Pattern
Materials
- Yarn: Lightweight cotton blend (approx. 500 yards)
- Hook: 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sk = skip
- sp = space
Size
This pattern is designed for a standard adult size. Adjust samples by adding or subtracting stitches in multiples of 6.
Instructions
Body
Start at the back
- Chain 60.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across (58 dc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), *dc in next 3 stitches, ch 2, sk 2; repeat from * across, dc in last stitch. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, *dc in next 3 stitches, ch 2, sk 2; repeat from * across, dc in last 2 stitches. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approximately 18 inches from the starting chain.
Front Panels (make 2)
- Chain 30.
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across (28 dc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, *dc in next 2, ch 2, sk 2; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, *dc in next 2, ch 2, sk 2; repeat from * across, dc in last 3 stitches. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures approximately 12 inches.
Assembly
- Lay the back piece flat. Position the front panels on each side, aligning the edges.
- Using sl st, attach the front panels to the back at the shoulder seams.
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle and block lightly if desired.
Finishing Touch
This shrug looks fantastic open or cinched with a belt for a chic style. Enjoy your new lightweight layer!
