Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight #4 yarn in two colors (one for the background and one for the silhouette)
• US size G (4.00mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

• Stiff fabric or starch (optional, for stiffening)

Gauge:

Not critical, but make sure your stitches are tight enough to avoid large holes.

Instructions:

Background Circle:

Round 1: With the background color, make a magic ring, and crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Pull tight.
Round 2: Inc in each stitch (12 sc).
Round 3: *Sc in 1, inc in next* repeat around (18 sc).
Round 4: *Sc in 2, inc in next* repeat around (24 sc).
Round 5: Sc in each stitch around for 2 rounds.
Fasten off and cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Silhouette Portion:

With the silhouette color, create a chain of 10. Turn and single crochet in each chain back.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc 1, hdc 4, sc 1.
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:
