Materials Needed:
- 400 yards of lightweight yarn (suggested: cotton blend)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
6 stitches and 4 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (DC) stitch pattern.
Instructions:
Back Panel:
- Chain 52 (or adjust for desired width).
- Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, *chain 2, skip 2 chains, DC in next chain; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first DC), *DC in chain-2 space, chain 2; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 24 inches in length or desired length.
Front Panels (make 2):
- Starting the same as the back panel, chain 26.
- Follow the same instructions as for the back panel for 12 inches or desired length.
Assembly:
- Place the back panel flat, then position the two front panels on top, aligning the bottom edges.
- Using slip stitch, seam the front panels to the back panel, leaving the top open for arms.
- Secure all loose ends using your tapestry needle.
Finishing Touches:
Block your cocoon shrug to enhance the lace pattern and drape. Enjoy pairing with your favorite outfits!
