Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in gray (approx. 1500 yards)
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Button: 1 large button for closure
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
12 sts and 14 rows in granite stitch = 4 inches
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- st: stitch
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
Pattern
Foundation Row
- Ch 152. Turn.
Body of Cape
- Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next ch-1 space, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 30 inches from the beginning or desired length.
Collar
- Row 1: Join yarn at right front edge, ch 1, sc evenly across the top edge of the cape where the collar will be. Turn.
- Row 2-6: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in each st across. Turn.
- Fasten off, weave in ends.
Button Loop
- Join yarn at the edge of the collar, ch 5, sl st into the same st to form a loop.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing
- Sew the large button onto the opposite side of the button loop on the collar.
