Delightfully Textured Flexi Shopper Bag

Materials Needed:

• 3 skeins of medium-weight cotton yarn (approximately 100-120 yards each)
• 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

12 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.

Finished Dimensions:

Approximately 14 inches wide and 16 inches high.

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• dc = double crochet
• sc = single crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• sp = space
• rep = repeat

Instructions:

Base of the Bag:

1. Ch 42.
2. Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. (40 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in each dc across. (40 dc)
4. Rows 3-9: Repeat Row 2, ending with a turn.

Side Panels:

1. Row 10: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *ch 2, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across. (20 ch-2 sps)
2. Row 11: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, dc in each sc and ch-2 sp across.
3. Rows 12-20: Repeat Row 11, following the pattern established.

Handles:

1. Join yarn at the top of one side panel with a sl st.
2. Ch 60 for the handle, join with a sl st to the side of the opposite panel.
3. Repeat for the other side.

Finishing:

1. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
2. Block as needed to shape the bag.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry.
