Delightful Lacy Petal Baby Sweater

**Materials Needed:**

• DK weight yarn (approximately 300 yards)
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Flower-shaped buttons (3-4)
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Scissors

**Gauge:** 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (dc)

**Sizes:** 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months

• Instructions are written for the smallest size, with larger sizes in parentheses.

Instructions:

Start the Yoke:

1. Chain 60 (64, 68) and join with a slip stitch to form a ring.

2. Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), dc in the same stitch, *2 dc in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to top of beginning chain. (90, 96, 102 dc)

3. Round 2: Chain 3, dc in next dc, *2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around. Join. (135, 144, 153 dc)

4. Round 3: Chain 3, dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc; repeat from * around. Join. (180, 192, 204 dc)

Petal Lace Design:

5. Round 4: Chain 3, dc in next 3 dc, *ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next 3 dc; repeat from * around. Join.

6. Round 5: Chain 3, dc in next 2 dc, *ch 2, dc in next 3 ch-2 spaces; repeat from * around. Join.

Body of Sweater:

7. Round 6: Chain 3, dc in next 5 dc, *ch 2, skip next 2 dc; repeat from * around. Join.

8. Continue in dc until piece measures 10 (12, 14) inches from the yoke, or desired length.

9. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sleeves:

10. For each sleeve, attach yarn in the armpit and chain 20 (22, 24).

11. Round 1: Dc in each chain, join with a slip stitch. (20 dc)

12. Repeat rounds 2 through 9 of the body until desired sleeve length is reached.

13. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

14. Sew flower buttons onto the front of the sweater.

15. Block the sweater as needed to shape.
