Materials Needed:

• Lightweight cotton or baby yarn (approx. 50g)
• 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge: 18 sts and 21 rows = 4" in double crochet.

Size: Fits preemie babies (head circumference approx. 12-14 inches).

Instructions:

Cap - Start:

Ch 22.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 18 ch, 3 dc in last ch. Turn to work along the opposite side, dc in next 18 ch, 2 dc in last ch. (40 dc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each dc across. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *ch 2, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across. Turn.

Body:

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in first sc, *ch 2, dc in next sc; repeat from * across. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *ch 2, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across. Turn.
Repeat Rows 4 & 5 until piece measures 8" or desired length to fold.

Finishing:

Row 6: Ch 1, sc around the entire edge for a finished edge.
Row 7: Ch 60 for ties, sl st to edge of bonnet to secure. Repeat for the other side.
Cut yarn, weave in ends.
