Crochet Cozy Textured Poncho with Cape Collar
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 800 yards)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
10 double crochet stitches = 4 inches
Size:
This poncho can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the foundation chain. The standard size fits most adults.
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st(s) - stitch(es)
Instructions:
- Foundation Chain: Ch 80 (or desired length for size adjustment).
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. (78 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Dc in first dc, *sk 1 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * across, ending with 1 dc in the last dc. (Total of 117 stitches including chains)
- Row 3: Ch 3, turn. Dc in each dc across. (117 dc)
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Continue repeating Rows 3 and 4 until you reach about 25 inches in length.
- Trimming: With the right side facing, make a border of slip stitches around the entire poncho for a finished look.
- Cape Collar: At the top edge of the poncho, ch 40 and attach with a slip stitch to the side to create the collar. Repeat for the other side. You can adjust the size of the collar by chaining more or fewer stitches.
- Finishing: Weave in all ends and block the poncho if necessary.
