Cozy Textured Envelope Pillow Cover

Materials Needed

  • Soft and fluffy chunky yarn (approx. 400 yards)
  • Size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
  • 3 wooden buttons (about 1 inch in diameter)
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Information

Use a yarn that is soft and fluffy to give your pillow cover a cozy feel. A chunky yarn works best for this project.

Dimensions

Finished size: approximately 14 inches wide x 14 inches long. This will fit a standard 12 x 12 inch pillow insert.

Stitch Guide

  • Ch = Chain
  • Sc = Single Crochet
  • Dc = Double Crochet
  • Sk = Skip
  • Sl st = Slip Stitch

Pattern Instructions

Base Pattern

  1. Ch 44.
  2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (43 sc)
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. *Dc in next sc; sk next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * across, ending with a dc in the last sc. (21 dc, 22 sc)
  4. Rows 3-9: Repeat Row 2.
  5. Row 10: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each stitch across. (43 sc)
  6. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Creating the Envelope Flap

  1. Repeat the base pattern until you have a second panel of the same length.
  2. Fold each panel in half widthwise with the right sides facing each other.
  3. Seam the sides together, leaving the top open for the insert. You can use slip stitch or sc for seaming.

Adding the Button Detail

  1. Turn the pillow cover inside out to hide seams. Position 3 buttons evenly on the upper flap.
  2. Use a yarn needle to sew the buttons onto the fabric securely.
  3. Lastly, weave in any loose ends and turn your pillow cover right side out.

Final Touch

Insert your pillow form into the cover and button it up for a cozy touch to your home decor!
