Crochet Charming Ombre Heart Jar Cozy Free Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in three colors (e.g., light pink, medium pink, dark red)
  • Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Yarn for the heart (optional, same as darkest color)
  • Jar (any standard-sized jar)

Stitches Used

  • Ch – Chain
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Sl st – Slip Stitch

Pattern

Base

  1. With the light pink yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc into the ring. Join with sl st to first sc. (8 stitches)
  3. Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Join. (16 stitches)
  4. Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join. (24 stitches)
  5. Round 4: Ch 1, *2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches; repeat from * around. Join. (32 stitches)

Body

  1. Change to medium pink yarn.
  2. Rounds 5-8: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Join.
  3. Change to dark red yarn.
  4. Rounds 9-12: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Join.

Heart Motif

  1. With the darkest yarn, create a small heart using the following steps:
  2. Ch 3, turn and in second ch from hook, make (1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc). In the last ch, make (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc).
  3. Chain 1, turn, and sc across the top (1 each in all stitches).
  4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing on the jar cozy.

Finishing Touches

  1. Sew the heart motif onto the front of the cozy using the tail from the heart.
  2. Weave in any loose yarn ends.
  3. Slip the cozy over your jar and fill it with treats, flowers, or a candle!
