Materials

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in blue, approximately 200g
• Knitting Needles: Size US 8 (5mm) straight needles
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in the textured pattern

Abbreviations

• k: knit
• p: purl
• k2tog: knit two stitches together
• yo: yarn over

Instructions

1. Cast on 40 stitches.
2. Row 1 (Right Side): *K2, p2; repeat from * to end.
3. Row 2 (Wrong Side): *P2, k2; repeat from * to end.
4. Repeat these two rows until the scarf measures approximately 6 inches.
5. Begin Wave Pattern:
   1. Row 1: K2, *yo, k3, k2tog, k2tog, k3, yo, k1; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
   2. Row 2: Purl all stitches.
   3. Row 3: K1, *k2, yo, k3, k2tog, k2tog, k3, yo; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3.
   4. Row 4: Purl all stitches.
   5. Repeat rows 1-4 of the Wave Pattern until the scarf is desired length, ending with Row 2 or 4 of Wave Pattern.
6. Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 6 inches.
7. Bind off all stitches loosely.
