Chunky Cable Crochet Socks Pattern

Introduction

Welcome to the world of cozy crochet! In this tutorial, we will guide you through creating your very own Chunky Cable Crochet Socks. These socks feature a striking cable design and are made with super bulky yarn, making them perfect for keeping your feet warm and stylish during chilly days. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your crochet skills, this pattern is designed to be easy to follow and enjoyable to create.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Super bulky yarn in cream and orange
  • Crochet Hook: 6.5 mm crochet hook
  • Gauge: 8 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in single crochet

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Toe

Using the orange yarn, start by creating a magic ring. This will form the base of your sock.

  1. In the magic ring, crochet 6 single crochets (sc).
  2. To increase evenly, crochet 2 sc in each stitch around for the next round. You should have 12 stitches.
  3. In the following round, crochet *1 sc in the first stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch* and repeat around. You should have 18 stitches.
  4. For the next round, crochet *2 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches* and repeat around. You should have 24 stitches.
  5. Finally, for the last increase round, crochet *3 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 3 stitches* and repeat around. You should have 30 stitches.

2. Foot

Continue crocheting the foot of the sock.

  1. With the same orange yarn, continue in single crochet for 10 rows. Make sure to keep your tension consistent.
  2. After completing the 10 rows, switch to the cream yarn.
  3. Begin the cable pattern: *Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc) around the next stitch, Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc) around the next stitch*. Repeat this pattern across the row.

3. Heel

Now, we will work on the heel of the sock.

  1. Using single crochet, work short rows for the heel. You will crochet back and forth instead of in the round for this section.
  2. Continue working short rows in single crochet for a total of 10 rows.
  3. After completing the heel, rejoin your work in the round to continue with the leg of the sock.

4. Leg

Continue with the cable pattern for the leg of the sock.

  1. Using the cream yarn, continue the cable pattern for a total of 20 rows. Make sure to maintain the same fpdc and bpdc pattern as before.

5. Cuff

Finish off your socks with a cozy cuff.

  1. Switch back to the orange yarn.
  2. Work in a ribbing pattern: *fpdc, bpdc* for 6 rows. This will give your cuff a nice stretchy finish.
  3. Once you have completed the cuff, bind off your work.
  4. Weave in all ends using a yarn needle to secure your stitches and tidy up your project.

Congratulations! You have successfully created your very own Chunky Cable Crochet Socks. Enjoy wearing them or gift them to someone special!
