Instructions
Ribbed Brim
- With circular needles, cast on 96 stitches. Place marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist.
- Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches.
Planned Color Pooling Argyle Pattern
- Switch to Stockinette stitch (knit every round).
- Work the planned color pooling pattern by monitoring yarn color changes to create the argyle effect:
Tip: Spread out the colors evenly and adjust stitches if necessary. Aim for diamonds approximately 4 stitches wide and 8 stitches tall.
- Continue following this pattern until the beanie measures 8 inches from the cast-on edge.
Shaping the Crown
- Switch to double-pointed needles when needed. Begin the decrease rounds:
- Round 1: *K6, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 2: Knit.
- Round 3: *K5, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 4: Knit.
- Continue decreasing in this manner, reducing one less stitch between K2togs each round, until 12 stitches remain.
- Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail. Thread through remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Using a pom-pom maker, create a fluffy pom-pom and attach it securely to the top of the beanie.
Blocking
Wet block the beanie to set the stitches and showcase the argyle pattern.
Enjoy your new vibrant argyle patterned beanie!
