Materials Needed

  • 4 skeins of fingering weight yarn in deep charcoal
  • 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn in midnight blue
  • 1 skein of fingering weight yarn in forest green
  • US 6 (4.0 mm) knitting needles

Step-by-Step Instructions

Back Panel

  1. Cast on 110 (120, 130, 140, 150) stitches using the deep charcoal yarn.
  2. Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern for 2 inches. (Knit 2, purl 2 across the row.)
  3. Switch to stockinette stitch (knit all stitches on the right side and purl all stitches on the wrong side) and continue for 10 inches.
  4. Begin the lace pattern:
    • Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 2, *yarn over (yo), knit 2 together (k2tog), knit 3; repeat from * to the last 2 stitches, knit 2.
    • Row 2 (Wrong Side): Purl all stitches.
  5. Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 8 inches.
  6. Shape the shoulders by binding off 5 (6, 7, 8, 9) stitches at the beginning of the next 6 rows.
  7. Bind off the remaining stitches.

Front Panels (Make 2)

  1. Cast on 55 (60, 65, 70, 75) stitches using the midnight blue yarn.
  2. Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern for 2 inches.
  3. Switch to stockinette stitch and continue for 10 inches.
  4. Begin the lace pattern as for the back panel, working for 8 inches.
  5. Shape the neckline by binding off 5 (6, 7, 8, 9) stitches at the neck edge every other row, for a total of 3 times.
  6. Shape the shoulder as you did for the back panel.

Sleeves (Make 2)

  1. Cast on 60 (65, 70, 75, 80) stitches using the forest green yarn.
  2. Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern for 2 inches.
  3. Switch to stockinette stitch, increasing 1 stitch at each end every 8th row until you have 80 (85, 90, 95, 100) stitches.
  4. Work even until the sleeve measures 18 inches from the cast-on edge.
  5. Begin the lace pattern and work for 6 inches.
  6. Bind off all stitches.

Assembly

  1. Block all pieces to the specified measurements to ensure proper fit and drape.
  2. Sew the shoulder seams together.
  3. Set in the sleeves by aligning them with the armholes and sewing them in place.
  4. Sew the side seams and sleeve seams together.
  5. Pick up and knit stitches along the front edges and neckline with the deep charcoal yarn. Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern for 1 inch, then bind off loosely to finish the edges.
