Crocheted Heart Amigurumi

Materials

• Worsted weight cotton yarn in red or your choice of color
• Crochet hook size H/5mm
• Stitch marker
• Polyfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge

Gauge is not critical for this project. Just ensure your stitches are tight enough to hold stuffing.

Abbreviations

• st(s) - stitch(es)
• sc - single crochet
• inc - increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
• dec - decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
• R - Round

Instructions

Heart (Make 2)

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. R1: 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sts)
3. R2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
4. R3: (sc in next st, inc) around. (18 sts)
5. R4: (sc in next 2 sts, inc) around. (24 sts)
6. R5: (sc in next 3 sts, inc) around. (30 sts)
7. R6: (sc in next 4 sts, inc) around. (36 sts)
8. R7-11: sc in each st around. (36 sts)
9. F/O and repeat for the second heart half.

Join and Finish

1. Hold the two heart halves together, making sure the curves align.
2. R12: sc around 30 sts joining both halves, leaving the bottom unstitched for stuffing. (60 sts)
3. R13: sc in each st around. (60 sts)
4. Start stuffing the heart with polyfill. Continue to stuff as you close the heart.
5. R14: (sc in next 4 sts, dec) around. (50 sts)
6. R15: (sc in next 3 sts, dec) around. (40 sts)
7. R16: (sc in next 2 sts, dec) around. (30 sts)
8. R17: (sc in next st, dec) around. (20 sts)
9. R18: dec around. (10 sts)
10. Finish stuffing firmly.
11. R19: dec around. (5 sts)
12. F/O leaving a long tail. Use the yarn needle to weave through final 5 sts and pull tight to close the hole securely. Weave in ends.

Finishing Touches

Shape the heart gently with your hands to even out the stuffing and curves. Your adorable heart amigurumi is ready to spread love!
