Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in deep red, burnt orange, golden yellow, and burgundy
- Crochet hook size H/5.0mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
13 DC x 7 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- st: stitch
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sk: skip
- ch-sp: chain space
Instructions:
Foundation Row:
Using deep red, ch 198 (or a multiple of 14 + 2 for desired width).
Row 1:
DC in the 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 DC), *dc in next 3 ch, [dc, ch 1, dc] in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, sk 2 ch, repeat from * across, ending with dc in the last ch. Turn.
Row 2:
Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, *[dc, ch 1, dc] in next ch-sp, dc in next 3 dc, sk 2 dc, dc in next 3 dc, repeat from * across, ending with dc in last 3 dc and in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 3-6:
Repeat Row 2, carrying the yarn up the side for color changes.
Color Change:
Switch to burnt orange and repeat Rows 2-6.
Continue Color Pattern:
- Rows 13-24: Repeat in golden yellow.
- Rows 25-36: Repeat in burnt orange.
- Rows 37-48: Repeat in deep red.
- Rows 49-60: Finish with burgundy.
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle. Block the blanket to ensure shape stability.
