Materials:
- Medium weight cotton yarn in cream, red, blue, green, yellow, and orange
- Crochet hook size H/5.0mm
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
One granny square = 4x4 inches.
Instructions:
Granny Square Pattern:
- Round 1: With chosen color, ch 4, sl st to first ch to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc into ring, ch 1. *3 dc into ring, ch 1* repeat 3 times. Join with sl st in top of ch 3. [4 clusters]
- Round 2: Sl st into next ch-1 space, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same space, ch 1. *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into next ch-1 space, ch 1* repeat around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off. Change color. [8 clusters]
- Round 3: Sl st into any ch-1 space. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same space, ch 1. *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 corner space, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1* repeat around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Assembly:
- Make 30 squares following the granny square pattern with your chosen color combination.
- Arrange squares in a 5x6 grid, ensuring balanced color distribution.
- Use the cream yarn to sew squares together with a whip stitch or slip stitch, forming the front and back panels (5x3 each).
- Sew panels together at the sides, leaving space for the armholes.
- Stitch two rows of squares together for the straps and attach them securely to the front and back panels.
Edging:
With cream yarn, work sc evenly around the neckline, armholes, and bottom edge for a neat finish. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
