Materials Needed
- Medium weight cotton yarn in pink and blue
- 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Start the Shawl: Begin with a magic ring. To create a magic ring, wrap the yarn around your fingers to form a loop, then insert your hook into the loop. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet (dc)), and work 11 dc into the ring.
Once you have completed the 11 dc, pull tight on the tail of the yarn to close the ring. Join the round by making a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3. - Round 2: Chain 3. In the same stitch, work 2 dc. Then, *1 dc in the next stitch, 2 dc in the next stitch; repeat from * around. After completing the round, join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3.
- Round 3: Chain 3. In the same stitch, work 2 dc. Then, *1 dc in the next 2 stitches, 2 dc in the next stitch; repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3.
- Continue Increasing: Continue this pattern of increasing until you reach the desired width of the shawl. You can adjust the number of rounds based on how wide you want your shawl to be.
- Switch to Blue Yarn: Once you have reached the desired width, switch to your blue yarn. Work in a shell stitch pattern around the edge. To create a shell stitch, work 5 dc in one stitch, skip 2 stitches, and then make a slip stitch in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around the entire edge of the shawl.
- Create a Scalloped Edge: To finish off with a scalloped edge, chain 3 and work 2 dc in the same stitch, skip 1 stitch, and make a slip stitch in the next stitch. Repeat this around the shawl to create a beautiful scalloped finish.
- Final Touches: Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle to ensure a neat finish. Finally, block the shawl to shape it properly. This can be done by lightly wetting the shawl, pinning it to a flat surface, and allowing it to dry.
Now you have your very own Crochet Vibrant Crescent Shawl! Enjoy wearing your beautiful creation or gifting it to someone special.
