Material Needed:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in a neutral color
- Needles: US size 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed or circular needles
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Abbreviations:
- CO: Cast On
- BO: Bind Off
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- sts: Stitches
Instructions:
Cuff:
- CO 40 sts loosely.
- Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a marker for the beginning of the round.
- Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 2 inches.
Hand:
- Switch to textured pattern: Round 1: *K1, P1; repeat from * to end of round.
- Round 2: Knit all stitches.
- Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 for 5 inches from the cuff or desired length.
Thumb Opening:
- When reaching the thumb position, work flat:
- Row 1 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * to end of row.
- Row 2 (WS): Knit all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the thumb opening measures 1.5 inches.
Finish Hand:
- Reconnect to work in the round, ensuring no gap forms at the thumb opening point.
- Continue in the textured pattern for 1 inch or desired length above thumb opening.
Bind Off:
- BO all stitches in pattern (k1, p1) loosely.
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
Thumb:
- Pick up and knit 12 sts around the thumb opening.
- Work in k1, p1 ribbing for 1 inch or the desired length.
- BO loosely and weave in ends.
Repeat all steps for the second mitten.
