Crochet Beach Cover-Up Pattern

Materials Needed:

Gauge:

16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch (after blocking).

Abbreviations:

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • sp - space
  • rep - repeat

Instructions:

Top Section:

  1. Ch 60 to start.
  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (59 sc). Turn.
  3. Row 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each sc across (59 dc). Turn.
  4. Row 3: ch 1, *sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc; rep from * across, ending with sc in last dc. Turn.
  5. Row 4: ch 3, *dc in sc, ch 2; rep from * across. Turn.
  6. Repeat Rows 3-4 until the piece measures 12 inches from the starting chain, or desired length.
  7. Finish with a row of sc for a neat edge. Fasten off.

Body Section:

  1. Attach yarn at the bottom edge of the top section.
  2. Ch 60 for the bottom.
  3. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (59 sc). Turn.
  4. Row 2: ch 3, dc in each sc across (59 dc). Turn.
  5. Row 3: ch 1, *sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc; rep from * across, ending with sc in last dc. Turn.
  6. Row 4: ch 3, *dc in sc, ch 2; rep from * across. Turn.
  7. Continue this pattern until it reaches approximately 36 inches in length or desired length.
  8. Finish with a row of sc. Fasten off.

Sides and Ties:

  1. Use yarn to create ties for both sides: ch 20, sc in each chain to create a sturdy string. Fasten off.
  2. Attach ties to each side of the cover-up for adjustable fit.

Finishing Touches:
